Build for New Zealand

Rick was doing his pre purchase due diligence on a trailer importing business when he identified a market for durable and reliable New Zealand made trailers as an alternative to cheaper imported trailers. Knowing he could not in all conscience sell what he believed to be inferior imported trailers and products, Rick made the decision to develop his own proto-type – a robust trailer to last a lifetime – which is exactly what RAPTOR TRAILERS is all about.

Engineered for life

At Raptor Trailers conception, the expertise of a qualified engineer was secured to assist with designing and engineering the chassis while Rick focused on sourcing available quality New Zealand products and trailer kits to complete the trailer to his own high standards.

Years in the making

Rick grew up on his parents’ Waiuku dairy farm and recalls being mechanically minded from a young age. One of three boys born to Dutch parents who immigrated to New Zealand in the 1950’s, Rick was encouraged to undertake a trade apprenticeship and qualified as a diesel mechanic, gaining experience in both New Zealand and Australia. Rick build his first trailer while still at secondary school which is still used by his brother today. During the thirty five years Rick worked as a dairy farmer and agriculture contractor, he built all his own trailers because the trailers he could buy were often not strong enough for the task around farms.
